Overview
The platforms surrounding equipment in a new wastewater facility were initially specified in stainless steel, due to the corrosive environmental conditions. Installation of stainless steel, however, would have been difficult due to the limited space available for the necessary equipment used to put the structures into place.
Problem
• To develop a solution with equal or better corrosion resistance than stainless steel.
• To have the installation of the platforms not interfere with the installation of other equipment.
• To have the installation completed on time.
Solution
Fibergrate supplied a light-weight solution with square covers. We attached handles at every corner for easy lifting and provided a trap door to take the water samples. This created a safe environment for workers that was maintenance free and reusable as quarry fills up over the years.
• Shorter lead-time.
• Quicker installation.
• The anti-slip surface would provide an added safety benefit.
• The integral colours would provide a more aesthetically pleasing environment.
The project was fabricated in Whitby, Ontario and sent to the site to meet the customer’s schedule. The project was overseen by a Fibergrate Project Coordinator to ensure proper installation and to troubleshoot any unforeseen problems.
The customer was very happy with the installation as it has provided them with a longlasting, safe and aesthetically pleasing solution to their problem.
